the return of ms. green

with long hair and a new style, vivian green began her promo tour last night at bimbo's 365 club. i have to say, she sounds great live-a bit better than recorded. her new release, vivian, drops june 28th.
(yeah, i know the photo is dark, but seeing as how i got singled out to get reprimanded by security in a sea of other people taking photos, i felt the need to post it.)

Whats up giant peach folk. This is Neil Armstrong, Vinroc's NYC 5th
Platoon DJ crew brethren. I'm in the midst of putting together the next
installation of the "All Out King" mixtape Series, called "Filthy".
It's going to be a return to my "hip hop" roots, after dropping
"Extraordinary", which was on the rock tip. Hope y'all music fans are
into it, thanks 4 supporting my older projects and my crew the 5th

Wait-is this going in the news section?
peachies #1 & 4 descended upon the fillmore thursday night to further harass aesop rock (no random interview requests from punchy journalists, we promise). the sold out show also featured dj big wiz, lif, cage & yakballz. (hi to chris from gomi kitty/hip hop mecca in austin who was along on the tour doing merch)

future sf resident, mr. aesop rock.

While modeling a pair of flashy glasses, Cage found out his album (Hell's Winter) had just been leaked on the net. Remember to support on the actual release date 9/20/05.

Yak Ballz: Whatchu know 'bout ProMax?! suffering from the lack of props in the back stage area, yak reached for a protein bar....

DJ Big Wiz on the other hand opted for the bottle opener. A little known (or maybe well known) fact is that Wiz was one of the o.g. djs for Rap-a-lot Records back in the day...the man has djed for the Geto Boys...what?!

Scooter...the man in charge.

lif: all access pass...

pick a bigger weapon

The Coup's new album will be out late August/early September, entitled
"Pick A Bigger Weapon". It is being released by Epitaph Records. An
early single, "My Favorite Mutiny", featuring Black Thought and Talib
Kweli will be released this summer. It is their longest album. It is
our weirdest album. It is anthemic. The production is at a much higher
level. It's fun. It's mean. It's funky in a way that you didn't know
hip-hop could be and still be edgy and hard. It's silly. It's our best
album yet- of course I'm gonna say that though.

old soul
the lower haight is just really no place to have a car. after circling around for quite some time, i spotted mooney on the street who lead me to a secret parking lot where his friend keith lives. luckily (or maybe unluckily) keith was out of town...but his neighbors were eyeing me like, "we're going to tow your car regardless". i risked it, and ran over to future primitive to take some quick photos for you...

the lady of the hour, kelly tunstall (in the lovely blue dress), and some admirers.

some of the more recognizable images...she worked on some really massive life-size paintings that were gorgeous...we're going to go back during a calm time and take photos of those.

i hear a symphony

baby...

snuck a photo of merkley and bing ji ling underneath the special 45 jacket.

she's going to love me for this photo...after many attempts with the camera shutting off due to low batteries, i finally snapped this one of gabriella from mama clothing and her hubby ali.

of his recent trip to london. (the selection of shoes was insane...if only they had his size!) he is totally juiced on lyrics born's live band and highly recommends that you check them out when they're in a city near you (particularly the arrangement of "do that there"). he is returning to the studio to record lateef solo tracks with michael urbano. chief xcel is still finishing up work on the blackalicious record, but they then hope to do more work on the maroon's full length soon...
